Due to its popularity, we will continue our #BeyondTheLabel FREE webinar series. This month, our speaker will be Dr. Bill Kern, UF/IFAS Ft. Lauderdale REC.

Topic: Honey Bee Basics and PCOs

Description: This presentation is a collaborative effort between FDACS and the UF/IFAS Honey Bee Research Lab, PMU, and FLREC based on questions received from the pest control industry. Bees fall within the definition of “pest” in Section 482.021(21), F.S. and also the definition of “agriculture” in Section 570.02(1), F.S. It is important to understand honey bee biology and behavior as a pest control operator in order to conduct proper eradication. We will cover the difference between honey bee eradication vs live removal, biology and behavior, including foraging behavior in relation to eradication efforts, safety and equipment, additional considerations and a list of resources.
