Pest Management University is pleased to announce the following General Household Pest training courses:

  • Foundations of General Household Pest Management
  • Masters of General Household Pest Management
  • Expert in General Household Pest Management

CEUs and technician hours offered are variable based on course. Classes will be taught by UF/IFAS, FDACS and leaders in the pest management industry who understand that increased professionalism and skill lead to increased profits and reduced customer conflict.

Program Comments: These courses include lecture and hands-on portions. They are 2.5 days long and are team taught by FDACS, industry experts, and UF/IFAS.

Foundations of General Pest Management

This course is designed to provide the basic information needed to do an IPM service for common general household pests such as cockroaches, rats, ants, occasional invaders, mosquitoes, filth flies.
  • Review the labels of commonly used GHP products and learn about label updates
  • Understanding the requirements of FS 482 and 5E-14 as it relates to GHP
  • Practice pest inspections at PMU’s house and develop treatment strategies focused on IPM
  • Do a vehicle inspection and spill drill with Paul Mitola from FDACS

Master of General Household Pest Management with Optional State Exam

Must have completed Foundations in order to attend this course.

  • This course is designed to review cockroaches, ants, termites, rodents, filth flies, mosquitoes, and occasional invaders, and add wasps, stored product pests, fabric and museum pests, lice and ticks, fleas, mites and bed bug biology, behavior and control
  • Learn about the importance of disease transmission for selected pests
  • Play with the tools of the trade, vacuums, steamers, foamers and practice spray patterns
  • Learn about the importance of formulations and product rotation
  • Learn about FS 482 and 5E-14 with particular reference to the duties of the certified operator
